"the common" roads Anybody on earth who read TIme...
of India daily would know about our illustrious "common man". He is the eternal personality in R.K.laxman's cartoons who will always be there when India calls. What I mean by that is that he is vista of INDIA. So what is he doing there in R.K.Laxman’s cartoons? Well, he is relishing every moment of it. He is there when an MP takes bribe, he is there when India wins a match, he is there when a road side beggar was ignored by a richer human laughing at the fate of that unfortunate human, and he is there in railway stations when people stare endlessly at of the end of the station for ‘light’. Our celebrated common man is omnipresent with his illustrious attire, wondering at the plight of our society, in this not so notorious world.
The horoscope of our Indian roads is as close as it can get to an average Indian’s life. They (roads) show the ups and downs of ones life. Some great moments in a man’s life are similar to those of roads of metropolitan/cosmopolitan cities. Here too we are not far away from the acuity of life. The hiccups we experience in our not so routine life are like huge speed breakers we are destined to pass through. Height of coincidence is both come in our way when we least hope for them. Potholes can be as fatal as landmines if I am not exaggerating. How cautious we may be but they pull us in like a black hole, in which we travel to hell and come back in nanoseconds. I can draw a comparison between potholes and not so good people that we have to come across our life with least acceptance of ours.
Like different kind of people that co-exist in this intangible world, we get to see hundreds of Brands being driven on roads. Typical to the social conditions prevailing in our society seldom does a common get to see Lamborghinis roll on our roads. So does the lives of many a people who are not sure of at least one meal a day. Why on earth did I bring Maybachs and Lamborghinis into action, the idea is as simple a eating a banana. As different brands roll on these roads so does the people of all social strata. But only those unfortunate mortals would feel the pain of traveling on these roads. I tried to understand the pain and I understood the pain but remained dumb and senseless cursing my own selfishness .alas! ……..
