It is been quite a while since I scribbled something. Quite a long gap. Not good I suppose. Well I wanted to write quite a lot but some thing was pulling me back. The sluggard in me is always one step ahead of me. I have been to Delhi last week. It was a family tour for a week, a week? No not exactly. Because we had to spend about 60 hours in train. Anyway I will take more on that in my next post. After my ILP I did not write anything about my office life, in so called IT industry that took Indian business flag to the western shores.
Here I go ....the saga begins. I stepped in Hyderabad (my home town) on 24th march with my mind filled with howling memories of ILP and it took a quarter to get back to my usual life. We reported at our base branch that is Hyderabad on 27th march. I was on bench - bench is a universal (I suppose) term used for associates who are not officially assigned any project. But that was a boon in disguise for me. That gave enough time and opportunity for me to learn ping pong. Very good game. Of course I am still a low level player but I hope to catch up with "good” guys. We used to play TT till afternoon and used to get fed up and would then retire to have lunch and then again play for another hour or so and then call it a day. That was my schedule for one month or so. One fine day or should I say not so fine... we were asked to report to some person in another branch of Hyderabad. That building is called Kohinoor Park. TCS has 4 or 5 branches in Hyderabad and Deccan Park is the main development center of them.
I do not want to proceed further without talking about Deccan Park. It might sound very comical and shady when I say that I want to talk about a building as any big IT company that's around would have it's own campus. But for me our Deccan Park is different. For a very simple reason. The architecture of the building. People might be talking about Google or Oracle if i am talking about a office building or campus. But for me it is Deccan Park. It is an architectural marvel in every sense. if one takes aerial view of the building, the building design would look like a TATA symbol.colour of the structure is a kind of brick colour.i do not know what it is exactly but it one of the brightest looking one in entire hitech city, the silicon corridor of Hyderabad.
It has all the facilities which can make any IT professional happy to work in such a place. In the middle of the campus we have an open air auditorium which can easily accommodate 1000 people at any time. It is just one of its kinds. That is it. No more questions asked.
Now coming back to my work place (I said I had to report at another building called Kohinoor Park).I pity the architect of the building. From outside it is a good looking 14 storied skyscraper (this is India after all). But one can get a weird feeling when they step inside. It took me 1 month to get to know where exactly my petal (block) in that floor is. Trust me. It does not mean that it is so huge or anything like that. It is just the pithiness of the building I am trying to talk about. Terrible folk’s .It is terrible just forget it. But what can anybody on earth do anything that if it is inevitable.
I will talk about one incident. TCS (admin people I do not know why they are called admin) conduct a mock fire drill every quarter and it happened to fall in the same quarter we entered e-Park a.k.a Kohinoor Park. There were hardly any floors that were really operative at that time but still it took good fifteen minutes to evacuate people. We got to see the real test of Kohinoor Park design(read secutiry). Hardly any lift was working and building steps were located in a shady manner I suppose. If any real fire drill happens …that is a layman's guess.I do not want to say anything more. End of the day I pacify myself saying …come on dude this is life, it cannot be better than this. take a break dude.Life is not all about sufferings. life can be good at times.
as always the saga continues........
